the livestock marketeers
The Livestock Marketeers group was established in 1965 by Harry Green, Ross Miller and Claud Willett. Their purpose was to form a fraternal organization of livestock fieldmen and auctioneers, and to make annual awards in order to encourage younger members of the industry to succeed in their chosen profession.
Over the years, membership has expanded to include members from allied fields. Two such honors have been bestowed annually since 1966 in Denver at the National Western Stock Show. In addition, posthumous awards were initiated in 2009.
At all times, the basic criteria has been to bring together people with a shared interest in improving the marketing of purebred cattle.
The name -- The Livestock Marketeers -- was coined by Green and epitomizes the purpose of the organization.
